I've moved upstairs (and in daylight) and there is an Airiness about this image....I withdraw my previous observation...this is just perfect on an emotional level...which is what I was thinking about.

Dave - I also like this treatment. You are developing a nice style. I recall some other shots that were heading in this direction.

Re "light" - I've looked at this a few times, and the owl is not too light for me. I'd like to see a version where you applied a small dark vignette to the background.

I made it light because the dark version is just to harsh. It doesn't look right.
I know all monitors are a little different, but when I do print some shots, the
light and darks look about the same from my monitor to print. So I just kind of go by that.

I've never used anything to adjust the monitor, I'm pretty much just doing it by guessing
and now and then holding a print next to it to see it they look close.
For me, that's good enough.

My laptop is a whole different story. The colors are off, and I know it.
So when I'm on the road and doing some quick edits, I try not to do any color correcting.
Then when I get home, I revisit the shot on the iMac.

I really, really like this tratment...500 years from now people should love this treatment. This does look a little light to me, even on my dark (ish) downstairs monitor.

This should be even lighter on my upstairs more work oriented monitor (I really need to spring for a Spyder like Jim has! Maybe for Christmas....my monitors, and variations between my large cell phone, my lap top, my downstairs set up, and my main upstairs is a constant source of...unhappiness...lol)
