No question about the brain jumbling up the visual signals. My problem is I don't wait long enough to post and I end up deleting my post because I "see a problem with it". Paul.

You said a key thing: I think our brains often do an auto correct when we've looked at an image long enough.
I agree with that. Over the last year or so, I have done some reading on color theory and color perception. One thing that most folks seem to agree on - the brain can mess up sometimes. So walking away, and coming back later is good practice.

I probably don't do that enough - except for the rare occasion I want to print something to hang.

Thanks, guys. Getting good color balance can be challenging. I often spend time on an image until I'm reasonably happy with its color balance, then look at it the next day and it looks terrible. I think our brains often do an auto correct when we've looked at an image long enough ... but then that auto correct memory is gone once we haven't looked at the image in a while. Back in the film days, I once spent a whole day working on color correcting a single print in my darkroom. At the end of the day, I was happy with it. The next day, after having not looked at the image for several hours, I took another look and it was terrible. Also, back then, professional color print labs often banned their technicians from watching color TV. TV colors were not very good and the technicians would get accustomed to them and then couldn't properly balance color photos in the lab. - Ken

I do think this a a little better, though asking people to do color checks vi the internet is fraught with difficulty. Monitors and browsers play a big role. For instance, I am traveling at the moment, and I know my laptop is not as accurate as my larger monitor at home.

But no matter what the small difference might be, I still like this shot a lot.

I like it better even tho there may still be a slight color effect and it could be the colors above his head that are throwing me off. I still like it!!! I've got to say that I am horrible at removing or correcting color castings, DPP and PSE just does not have the correct tools to make much change. Personally I have better luck in Topaz. Paul

Thanks, Paul. I warmed up the image a little bit and re-uploaded. I like it better now. What do you think ... Is this better? - Ken

How ironic because I see more cool tones especially in "Killer's" fur. Maybe even slightly magenta when viewing on the iPad. Still looks fantastic no matter what color shift it has on it. Paul

Thanks, guys, for your kind comments. Help me out a bit ... What do you think of the color balance here? Sometimes I look at it and it looks "perfect." Then, the next time it might look too green. Maybe its all the green in the background playing tricks on my brain. How does it look to you? - Ken

What a great shot, if this was my cat I'd name him Killer. Paul.

The eyes and focused face make this shot for me.

I am with you on this...the lizard is a better & very good image, but this resonates with me. Lovely, or more properly said, interesting picture.
