Thanks for the kind words. I have to admit this was taken as an afterthought. I was photographing the moon and noticed how the moon was backlighting the trees when stepped back for a moment. I was glad it had risen high enough that the electrical wires were no longer in the shot. That nearly vertical line is edge of a thin cloud bank that probably contributed to the halo.
Most likely the star is Saturn, Mars is also nearby but currently lower than the moon very near the ecliptic. Creative thinking using the using the moon as the backlight. Paul
It is just so smart that it almost took my breath away....a bright illuminating background, a dark reaching foreground....and volia`....you have a very substantial Silhouette shot...so kudos. The bright dot is a planet, no, not a star?
