I must say Dave, this was a most delightful story...no wonder you are so good (they say a great woman stands behind every great man!)

thanks for sharing,

There are times that "the wife" can be a bother while out shooting, but, she is far
better at spotting the wildlife than I am. So what we do is have her drive the car, and
keep an eye out for critters, if we spot one, I can jump out of the car without worrying
about where I'm leaving it.
The fact that she was an art history major in college and that she works in an art gallery
all works to my advantage.
If she would take the time to learn a camera again, she would be fantastic at photography.
More than once she's helped me find the better spot to take landscapes.

Paul - I am like you. Any photo outing of mine is done without my wife.
We may clash next fall when I drive back from MN to AZ. I have 3 national parks in mind to stop at for 5 or 6 days. And I have even offered to fly her back.

At first glance I didn't notice the blood stain on the ice in the shape of the fish he's eating. Great work Dave! Paul

With my wife a half hour is equal to a millennium when I have my camera gear and stop for a shot so I never go anywhere to shoot anything with her. EVER! Paul

Thanks Trav, but the only thing I am is lucky enough to be in the right spot at the right time.
In two hours my wife and I saw this otter and watched him for about a half an hour (or 600 photos).
Also included in this trip, we saw four bucks, two of which decided to get up and spar while we were there.
Add to that, a bald eagle was circling over the otter while it was eating fish. As the eagle flew to a branch,
a few seconds later a red tailed hawk parked in the same tree.
It's all the luck of the draw if these things will happen while a person is there.
Today I drew a pretty good hand.
