Traveller: Sometimes it feels like a zoo! I live in an area that was once a Louisiana swamp. The house and yard is still surrounded by a dense wooded area harboring all kinds of creatures. I've seen squirrels, rats, lizards, turtles, snakes (one even got in the house), birds, bees, spiders, owls, etc. I even came home from work one day to find a bald eagle in the middle of the road eating street kill! Neighbors have talked about seeing or hearing coyotes, wild pigs, and other creatures, but I have not personally seen or heard them. At work, we once had an alligator in the ditch in front of the building and I have seen herds of up to 20 wild hogs running loose in the buffer zone around the NASA facilities there. We even had a report of a black bear at work, but I didn't see it personally.
Those blasted raccoons are very resourceful when it comes to snatching food. At scout summer camp I've seen them do amazing things to steal careless young scouts snacks and candy. Paul
