I had 2 7D's. One that I bought new (when they came out) and 2 years later bought a used one.
I thought that the 1st camera had issues with the focusing. I would get about
60% of my shots dead on focus. For some reason, the other 40% were just off.
Now these shots could be in a series of 6 shots, 2 would be out of focus, of a
bird on a tree limb at 1/1000 of a second. I don't miss those shots, my hands are steady.
The second 7D was worse. Maybe 50% in focus. At that point I went back to the Rebels.
The issue with all of these cameras, the 18 MP sensor. I got noise in the sky at iso 400.
Always trying to clean up the shots. What a pain.
I then went to full frame. 5DMKII, what a great camera, but I missed the crop factor for wildlife.
I then got the 70D. 20 MP, 7 FPS, same battery as the 5DMKII, and no focusing issues.
When the 7DMKII was announced, I thought about getting one, but really, for me, if gives me
nothing over the 70D. I then started to look at the 5DMKIII and 6D, as the 5DMKII was getting a
bit long in the tooth.
I bought the 6D, the low light handling is fantastic. I knew a kid (20 years old) that enjoys photography.
I gave him what I think was a good deal on my 5DMKII.
So after that long winded answer, when the 7DMKII came out, if I didn't have the 70D I probably would have
bought it. As it is, the 70D is a great camera, it nails focus, I can shoot all day at iso 400-800 and not really worry about noise.

On a bluff, makes sense. Have you been tempted to upgrade to the 7D MII? I've read numerous postings of people having problems with it. The M2 might not be as good as the original. But, I also remember when the 7D first came out lot of people were complaining about focusing problems and most of the time it was user error. Paul

Thanks. The tree that this nest is in, is in the river valley.
I'm on a bluff that's about the same hight as the nest.
The bad part is when the leave start to show, the view is pretty much gone.

That is a fantastic angle you have Dave. How were you able to get on the same level as the nest. All the eagle nests around here are very high up in a tree as this one appears to be. Paul.
