That's right, Paul: I had *not* applied distortion correction. But watch out: in architecture photography the distortion of this lens at 24mm more often than not *is* disturbing. As you say, though, *then* distortion correction (I use Canon's own "dpp" software for that) is helpful, indeed, albeit not always a panacea. Thanks for your comment on my image! ~ db.

Ahhh so you did NOT apply distortion correction! I thought you might have applied it and we were viewing the corrected image. So to me that is a very acceptable amount of WAD. And I repeat, very nice. Paul.

I do agree with you on both items, Paul:

1) Traveller should absolutely go for the top floor. Why not aim for the top always and everywhere in life? There is better view and, as you suggest, «less noise» ;-))

2) Yes, that camera/lens combination is even better than I had expected when buying it; though there *is*, indeed, more than just «quite a bit» of distortion at 24mm (which is why I'm looking forward to purchasing soon a wider angle «companion» for it), you can use it even for architecture photography without any worries from about 30mm to 70mm. And, yes, I'm aware of the existence of distortion correction software, but had just not much time after my return from Portugal.

Why settle for 3rd floor?? Then you'd have noisy neighbors above you, go all the way to the 5th floor where the view would be even better.

I really like that camera and lens combination Daniel all tho I do see some slight distortion at 24mm (maybe distortion correction) in the image but still real nice. I'd have that body and lens set if I didn't have to funnel so much money into my daughter's life right now. Paul

No problem, Traveller: as soon as your down payment will arrive on my bank account, I'll send you the keys to your new third floor apartment. ;-)) Then, for the housewarming party, I'll come and visit you: I like the rounded corners of the building a lot too. BTW: oh, yes, you sure could live in Lisbon. It is a most beautiful and, if I may say so, very romantic city, albeit a tad too melancholic for my taste. The Portuguese «national feeling» is the «saudade» (yearning) defined by the locals—seriously!—as «o gosto de estar triste» (the pleasure of being sad)! That's why I prefer to visit often, but never for long: otherwise «a saudade» becomes contagious... ~ db.

I Really, really want to own the third floor apartment....what a view, and I love to curved face of the building....I have never been to Lisbon, though I have always felt that I could live there...more to the point, that I would like to live there...Lisbon has always been part of my Dreamscape.
