Another fabulous launch at the Quickcheck Balloon Festival. This was the evening one-(my exif am/pm is confused on my camera)

That tells me everything because I know this lens and used to have one myself. Mine never exhibited the problems what your is so I'm going to guess it may have been dropped a time or 3. CA and spherical aberrations are caused from the lens not focusing all on the same spot which is why I suspect it may have been dropped and knocked things out of alignment What am I seeing... Look at the left side of the balloon see that reddish halo, it's also visible on the lower right side and notice how it shows up as green on the top right of the balloon. Now go down and look at the leaves and you will see the exact same thing. Back when I was younger and played in a band with my brother his Gibson SG guitar never really tuned up properly and had trouble staying stayed in tune. One time during a gig the strap broke and MR SG hit the floor. GASP and PANIC!!! Well the funny thing is it only suffered a few road wear dings and scratches but more importantly from that time on it always tuned up and stayed in tune as expected. I think your lens may have suffered the reverse effect. What can you do about it, not much except convert to black and white and that will take care of the chromatic errors. Nerveless keep on shooting, learning and posting till the day comes that you can afford a better lens, the 50 1.8 is like a hundred bucks or so and is one of Canon's sharpest lenses. Paul

Hi Paul, the lens is one that a good friend gave to me. It's a Canon Ultrasonic 28-135. Does that give you enough information? (I'm still a beginner at much of this). Can you explain what you are seeing to me? I looked up CA/PF and read about the halo color problem. I'm not sure I see what you see in this particular photo, but I did see it in the man without a basket photo. Is there something I should be doing differently? Would love any feedback and suggestions. Michelle

Silhouette imagery is one of my favorite styles. Nice except for that CA your lens seems to suffer from. I'm still curious which lens it is. Paul.
