That is probably the "problem" with candid shots - you generally have a choice with your subject, but rarely with the background.
I'll take this smile any time.

Yeah. That's what I meant when I said it's "not always possible" to change the angle of view. Even if the subject is willing to cooperate, often the "moment" is lost by then and the subject becomes self conscious and it's just not the same. I'd much rather have a cluttered background with a great subject, than a great background with a less appealing subject. - Ken

No, no, that's fine...but I was with other people, shot off three shots and this was..not the best, but the least cluttered. Also her smile is really the center of the photo and had I re-positioned her, I am not sure that would have been possible, and probably would have lost that instant smile.

Yes, Jim, something like that can help ... but, ideally, at the time of exposure you would pick an angle of view with a less busy background. But I know (from experience) that's not always possible, especially if you want to capture just the right moment. I'm not trying to be too negative here ... I do think it is an excellent image as is. I really love the facial expression -- with just a little bit of mischievousness -- and She looks like she is having a ball playing that violin. Just doing a little nit-picking, Traveller. Hope you don't take offense. -- Ken

Ken - see a quick and dirty edit in pending. Is this what you were thinking of?

Ken - you could probably darken and blur the cars in the background, but then the girl would need the exposure brought up.
Maybe just the blur would work.

Thanks, Jim and Ken. This is a fairly tight crop already....I also cloned out her backpack on the grass behind her....I have tried to make this as less busy as possible...lol

This is adorable. I wish the background wasn't quite so busy ... but I still like it! - Ken
