Paul, I've taken one of those; though not what I really wanted. I hope to get another done in the next few weeks before I depart. The problem to solve is to get a great view of a cactus without a lot of scrub brush while looking west at the same time there is a great sunset. I haven't done well in the sunset forecast department.
BTW, this view looks to the east.

I'm thinking you should be out here in the late evening capturing a sunset with a fantastic cacti looming large in your foreground. I'm assuming the park isn't closed at dusk and that you have free range of wandering anywhere you want to shoot pictures. Paul

Trav - this is a nice time of the year here. Re Saguaro cactus - they are starting to die off in the park, especially in the eastern park (east side of Tucson). The climate changes have brought about more extremes in weather during the winter, and the recent extended cold snaps (eg, 19 deg lows and sub 31 deg for 70 hrs) have killed off some of the plants.

These big ones that you see are all 100 yrs old or more.

Springtime is nice, isn't it? I see huge cacti all over the place. Best Wishes, traveller
