I think the shape of the bokeh makes the shot more artful. All circles get boring all the time. Consider it an artistic choice ;) Late to say, but my only nitpick is the bit of dust that comes out near the top left corner. I find the purple fringe much more annoying. Some desat on that color spectrum should do the trick.

Now that does look odd with the pentagonal shapes. See what you mean. But, you can get many great shots with that lens, as long as you avoid this unfortunate side effect.
