You know, sometimes it is just fun to play...I am glad you had at it, Jim. Best Wishes, Traveller

As others have said already, interesting way of dealing with a tricky contrast issue. It has worked well. Regards, Michael

I think this is better. I also tried with the new Lightroom 4 with some of its local adjustments (pseudo masking) and the best I could do is like the one you show now.

But I still like it.

Dear Jim, believe me I tried, this is how I got to where this is...but the Buddha was almost pitch black in the shot...my leg is where the focus point and exposure was set...my leg with a very large scratch was less than lovely....lol...hence the photographic treatment to the image.

I burned and dodged lots and lots, used curves, set levels and exposure...this is about as bright as the Buddha gets without destroying the whole image...I think.

I do have 7 darker versions, this is the lightest I have.

I really like the effects you introduced here. Interesting colors and outlines.
Given the title, could you selectively brighten the Buddah a bit?

No, my bedroom. The vaguely organic form to the lower right is actually my leg a the bend of my knee...the largish gash lower, is a gash, an errant nail tore against my leg....

I wanted to be shu but with blood....it didn't work...so this experiment is what I got.

Hummmm
