Lovely, intriguing, and damn it, I wish I had thought of it ! It is totally on topic Paul, regardless of whether you had a choice in the composition - which of course you did. There are an almost infinite number of angles and compositional choice that could be made here - you could have a lot of negative space on one side, resulting in a "thirds" composition. Well done! Hope to see more.

Just wonderful, Paul: I love this image! And I agree with Michael (though I do not have his *host-authority* to say so): the fact that there aren't (m)any other choices to compose the image does, IMO, not invalidate its "on-topicness" at all: it is definitely "Not Rule Of Thirds". — db.

Paul, you do this type of shot so well, it's like you can summon them at will. It isn't only the overall effect, which is excellent, but the seemingly precise detail in which chaotic effects are presented. I'm thinking about your hard drive, busted balloons, watch face and now this, to mention a few that come to mind. It would be so easy (likely even) to get an unbalanced exposure with something as chaotic as this, yet here it is, just perfect. You are a master. Regards, -Najinsky

The fact that a central composition seems the only option doesn't in any way reduce its fitness for the challenge Paul. Obviously it's your choice whether you leave it in place, but please don't feel any pressure from the on-topic/not-on-topic issue. Regards, Michael

The more I look at this, even with the abstract effect I love, I'm not sure it really belongs in this specific challenge because there really is only one way to compose it and that's center. I may move it out. Paul

Small cheap $2.00 LED flashlights were tied on the rope a few inches apart from each other. Then I put speedlight gel filters over the front of them, opened the shutter and spun away.
In reality we only have 2 flashlights in this image. One with a red gel and one with a blue. Half way through this exposure I heard something hit the wall and I though "WTF was that" but I kept on spinning until the shutter closed. When I looked at the image on the camera I smiled and instantly realized the red gel flew off in flight which made the light turn white then.

I'm going to explore this some more in the near future. I also tried blowing up balloons and put them over the end of the flashlight but its more difficult to control the rotation and the effect is different to say the least. Kind of ghostly you might say. Paul

Did you twirl three lights sequentially?
If so, it looks like red followed by blue followed by white.

I always felt the shot at the K was marginal and not really my style. I'll move it back if the majority feels it should be there.

As far as how I captured this shot have a peek in pending to see if there is enough information there for you to figure it out.

Excellent Paul...a lovely abstraction too. But why did you move, Being at the K over to Pending? It was a very nice capture of something real & immediate....Traveller

Nice! Pretty cool design at only 15s, this actually looks like car stereo wire. And I imagine you had fun creating it. I love it, and just found a whole community of serious light painters a few days ago. Even a blind guy is doing it! Now I just need to arm myself with all the different kinds of light, and I think this could keep me entertained for a long time to come. Keep up the fun!
