OMG, I forgot to introduce, shu: "Please meet my wife, Cristina...!" — db.
Canon Image Challenge23-Jun-2012 14:34
well it's a good image, imo. the gal looks cold as does the b/g. nice image for the challenge. shu

Sorry to say so, shu, but "obeying" is definitely not—and never was—"my thing". Anyway: with the hosts explicit and formal approval (an authentic "certificate of on-topicness"!) the picture will stay here for the rest of the Challenge. Thank you, Michael! — db.

"obeying" is what it's all about gentlemen. LOL shu

Hmm...... quite a discussion. I think for a facial shot to obey the rule of thirds, the subject's face would have to be at the intersection of two of our 1/3 lines. That's not true of this shot, so it obeys the challenge rules by breaking the rule. Regards, Michael

Eh, we're all friends here on the same journey in life. I never criticize and rarely critic others work. I briefly ticked off Sierra when I advised her not to jump into wedding photography alone without training but that's so yesterday. (I do still have a slight limp where she kicked me in the shins tho) ;~) Paul

Do not misunderstand me, gentlemen: I found Pauls's remark funny too ;-) and when I ask whether there was, indeed, that tad of sarcasm I "read and heard", I do not suspect at all it was "not in a nice way"; I have not doubted that any moment. Thanks for chiming in, Trav! — db.

If the real truth were known, I myself think I'm all wet just like my grandson! Just trying to lighten the load...... Paul

LOL...Paul's comment really was funny....and meant in a nice way, I'm sure. On a deeper philosophical level, in a challenge to break a rule, breaking the challenge rule itself...is interesting.

Paul may not have been being sarcastic at all...but rather he was being, "Deep."

Best Wishes, Traveller

On a more serious note, Paul: I've had to think a while to find out what you mean. I had entered this picture because I had been thinking in horizontal terms only (where the image fulfills Michael's challenge-suggestion of "very asymmetrical"). Only your comment made me realize that on the vertical axis the eyes *are* on the line of thirds (what might, indeed, make this entry "off-topic"). Let me think about this (and maybe get a "third opinion") before deciding whether or not an "only one axis breach" of the rule of thirds is good enough for the challenge, or whether—more probably—I'd rather delete the entry from this gallery. Anyway: thanks for your—slightly sarcastic?—"eye opener"! — db.

I've always loved to break the rules, Paul; not only in photography ;-)) Thanks for your remark...! — db.

See your breaking the rules already! Paul
