Harvest Gold!

Picked up a few black walnuts today for photography use only since I dislike eating these things.

Canon EOS 50D ,Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM
1/15s f/8.0 at 100.0mm iso400 full exif

These are black walnuts. They are much more bitter and pungent tasting than the more common english walnuts which I love.

When the outer shell of the walnut breaks down the inner shell is more like what you might think of when buying them in the store. I'm going to keep them around and photograph them again when they do break down in a month or so. I'll try to fit them into a challenge. Oooooo before and after. The black walnut is one of the most beautiful woods there is but the nut...... not so much. Paul

So that's what a Walnut looks like before it becomes a walnut...thanks for teaching me....but why don't you like them? Is it like me an cauliflower, just something you can't abide?
