Nice attempt. I always have problems with such topics because the heads of persons always tend to mix with background. Actually, I do not know myself how to resolve this
The "blue tarps" are actually popup shelters. Most boy scout units set up their kitchens under some type of shelter. All the units I camped with used the larger but still portable car ports so they could totally enclose their kitchen in the event of in-climate weather.
In the real cold weather we would add a portable salamander heater to stay a bit warmer during cooking and meal times. Paul
Yes Paul, that is a Boy Scout District Camping Event. The scouts were out at MacFarland Living History Ranch in Galt, California. The Galt Area Historical Society is the caretaker and responsible for the restoration of the property. I was asked by the society to go out and take a few photos of the event for the society. While processing the photos I thought that all of these yellow tents might work for the challenge. GAHS has 30 acres that we are restoring to the look of an 1860's working ranch. We have set aside a parcel of the land for a youth activities area, for scouting and other overnight youth events. The property will someday be a county park.
That's a boy scout camp out if I ever saw one. Actually it has the look of a district camping event which I have more than my share of experiences as a staffer. Paul
