I'm not sure, Paul, they're the nozzles too (though they might well be); they are, anyway, the drains. I do not have enough images to document the whole cycle, but you will see the look of the "fog part" of it quite well in my Bordeaux album: <http://www.pbase.com/bollag/bordeaux -- db.

Now I understand, impossible to tell what they were without your description. Now I know they are water nozzles. Very interesting, do you have any images of it in action???

Thanks a lot, Paul, for your friendly comment! What you see here, is a huge fountain. Two or three times per hour minuscule waterdrops are sprayed from below the surface into the air and form a low and dense fog; then the water settles on the ground and forms the "mirror" you see here; and finally the water flows off. If I remember well, it does so through these "repetitive lines in the pavement", as you call them. -- db.

I like both the silhouette and reflection in this. I'm kind of wondering what those repetitive lines in the pavement are? Paul Alters
