Bridalveil Fall, Yosemite National Park

The morning of 16 May 2005, due to overnight warm rain and snow melt, the Merced River overflowed its banks. Yosemite valley closed due to flooding. I believe this image has been seen in an Exhibition gallery in the past. This is a new edit of the raw file. Software is more mature, as am I, since my first edit and I felt I could do a better job.

Thanks for describing part of the experience of being there :)
It's a powerful image.

Thanks, Techo. Pulling the full dynamic range out of the raw file was my goal, I couldn't be more pleased that you commented on it. The mist at the base of the fall is the mist caused by the extraordinary flow of the fall. I'd say the water mist at the base of the fall covered several acres that morning. The flow was so forceful that boulders going over the fall sounded like rifle shot as they hit the base. -Michael

Beautiful dynamic range here. Great details, all the way from the top(clouds) to the trees below. My favorite part is of course the waterfall. Righ beneath the falls, is that the water mist flying up high or a patch of fog? Either way, I really like how the effect looks like mist.
