solitary confinement

s.california

I pass this step van nearly everyday. It's owned by a homeless man who has lived in this spot in one vehicle or another for as long as I can remember. His twin brother was tragically killed in some kind of accident. The stress of losing his brother caused a downward spiral resulting in him living in this situation.

Sad story and I'm glad you didn't intrude on him to get this shot. As others have said, the story enhances the image...Michael

The story makes it. Otherwise it looks like just another lonely delivery van - also poignent if at a different level. -tv

What a sad story...but it's good that people like you can respect his lifestyle choice and just let him be.

Thanks Techo. This shot was taken from a moving car. I really didn't want to disturb the guy by parking and then taking an obvious photo. He is sitting in the driver's seat and he was watching me. He's lived at this spot for at least 30 years. -dtallakson

An amazing story. Thanks for sharing.
I like the PP and how you've managed to tame all the lines in the shot.
