This is really interesting Traveller. I've never been bold enough to ask a stranger if I could take their picture. I would probably have done something with a telephoto lens and snapped when he was not looking. But, then I would have missed all impact of your picture. -dtallakson

Pretty good for a salvaged picture. Nice pose, composition and toning. Regards, Michael

Trav, you really have a special gift for allowing people to be themselves with you, and and your photos are a testament to that. And as usual, your stories enrich not only your images but all of us who see/read what you have to say. Thank you for your generosity in sharing with us.

"Still, people are almost always happy to let me shoot them...wherever I am."

Well gee. *sigh* This is such a great statement about who you are, Trav. I like this even more than your image here... which I like for this challenge very much. ~Lydia

I love this take on the subject, both photographically and noted. Penny Street

I am sitting on the floor in a full on suit and tie at 2:00am, asking him to sweep around me as he poses and as I shoot him. This was supposed to be color because of the yellow broom and blue shirt....complementary colors....but, it came off as garish.

Photographing the working poor....is a theme of mine, I suppose. There are lots of transitions here...the establishment from being open to being closed, from being dirty to being cleaned, from being an illegal alien with a wife and two children to hopefully becoming legal.

There is the transition from Dark to Light.

This was a salvaged picture....it was not at all what I intended, which, I suppose, is a problem of mine. sigh.

Still, people are almost always happy to let me shoot them...wherever I am.

Best Wishes, Traveller

Thanks, Mr Trav, for opening up the proceedings for us in this gallery. Where on earth did you capture this one? Lots of light, lots of shadow - and he is looking at the camera man rather curiously...? Regards Nico
