perhaps one or two posters could draw lines across their images showing exactly how "golden ratio" is being used in their images. in this way, folks like me, will better understand how an image relates to the topic. i have not known of "golden ratio" until now so am confused as to how it is being used in most of the entries. mylinn is very clear in her entry as is traveler w his staircase and a couple of others, but frankly, most images are a complete mystery as to how the challenge topic relates to the image. thanks. shu.

I love Najinsky, (in a manly way...lol) but here is a better answer...Jump in, the water is fine....life seldom is all about following precise rules...sometimes you have to make up your own.

We are an understanding bunch...and our duty, as human beings, is all so often overcoming simple inertia {though it is never simple to the person athawart this beast}.

Have some fun...give it a go.

Good point. I've made a comment along the same lines in the thread on DPR. Basically no measurement is required. People can post virtually any image they like (within the standard posting rules). If they like the image enough to post, chances are GR may be hiding there somewhere. Trying to spot it can be part of the fun. I'd like the interesting part of this challenge to to simply be an awareness of the GR so we can each encompass it or dismiss it as we see fit. Ultimately, the voters decide, and if it ultimately turned out that the voters decided on a image apparently bereft of GR, well that itself would still be interesting! So simply shoot something you like, and lets see of we can find GR hiding within. -Najinsky

it seems that it could be somewhat difficult to follow the rules of this challenge. using the eye to create images of such presise measurements is risky. is this a good challenge for beginners learning composition? it may be that there will be a lot of scrutany of images since folks will be more focused on whether the poster is following the "golden ratio" instead of just enjoying his unique image.
