You have convinces me to buy the TH-42PWD8UK plasma screen... I have never in my life seen an LCD which can compete with those perfect blacks. Maybe contact Panasonic and get them to help you with hosting costs?

Thanks for all the hard work taking those screenshots, they are fantastic!

The pictures on your site looked so vibrant and 3d-like. Where did you purchase your panny from and what model is it? I have been looking online for a while now for a 42 inch plasma ... and it seems that an ED model panny can be purchased from some online companies for under $2,000. Are there any I can trust ? If you could write me back at my e-mail address ... I would be more than thrilled.. Thank you for your time and all of the help you have provided me with thus far.

hello rich

Hi Rick,

I noticed you posted in another forum a link to plasmaextreme.com Is this where you bought your panny? Are there any worries about buying the unit from the US? They seem to be WAY WAy cheaper down there (even after the exchange rate).

I also am from the Toronto area and am looking to purchase the new panny 6PWD (although it seems you can only get it from the US). Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Chris

BTW...great pics you have on the site
James Block 31-May-2003 01:26
Rich, the pix are amazing. I am new to the plasma world but I have been shopping the prices. I also went to a local electronics store that had 10 screens displayed, 5 brands (sony, panny, samsung, marantz, hitachi). It was so obvious that the Panny was superior (42" and 60") that it is a wonder they even carry the other brands.

Being a newbie, however, I am confused as to what equipment I need to run the new panny 42" non HDTV (PT-42PD3-P) if I am running it through my cable box and a home theater receiver. My area (northern NJ) just got digital cable and I will upgrade the service when I get the TV. Is there any source/book/magazine/website that I can trust (read: not selling me anything) that will give me the basics? If you would be so kind as to respond by email, as I don't check these forums very frequently. james_block@yahoo.com Thanks, in advance, for your help.

Nice shots!

What's the model number of your panasonic?

You're NOT making it any easier to decide between the GWII and the Panny Plasma ;-)

Cheers

Hi,

Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I'm new to PBASE and didn't realize I had messages waiting for me.

I used my Canon S45 digital camera to take screen shots from my Panasonic Plasma TV.
It was not easy, because until I found the right distance between camera and plasma, straange geometric distortions appeared in the screen shots. I found 106" to 108" worked great. I bracketed and chose the best shot. Yes I used DVD and froze the picture. In fact, the plasma image is even sharper and more detailed than displayed in the screen shots.
