zzSDIM9270.jpg

This one was taken nine years ago, using a Sigma SD14 camera, the third generation of their X3F sensored models. The SD14 was a big improvement over the earlier SD9 and SD10, with a better battery system, faster frame rate and for the first time in the X3F line, the ability to shoot JPGs along with the standard X3F RAW images that the earlier SD9 was limited to. If the newer Sigma X3F cameras ever get to the point where they can match my Nikons for frame rate, buffer size and low-light capability, I'll be back to using them full-time in an instant. There's something about their "look" that I haven't found anywhere else. The lens used for this shot was a Sigma 50-500mm OS, a great lens, especially when shooting in good light. The slight noise and sharpening "buzz" in this image is the result of the processing and compression used for gallery photos. The prints of this shot are super clean. The red, white and blue track paint was overcooked in this version.
