I'd love to know the story behind those frame modifications. The quality (?) of the welds seems to indicate a rush job, probably in an attempt to help cure frame flex issues. While Japanese race bikes from that era had almost bullet-proof, high-revving and powerful engines, some of their early chassis designs were of the "wet spaghetti" variety.
