A race starting and ending in Courmayeur, Italy. It follows the Alta Via 2 along the southern rim of the Aosta Valley and the Alta Via 1 along the northern rim. Total distance is 330km (200 miles) and elevation gain is over 24,000m (78,000ft.) with an equal drop. It is a single stage race with a time limit of 150 hours.

This year the race started on Sunday, September 13, and was stopped early on Thursday morning, September 17, because of continuing bad weather. On the days with bad weather I focused my photography on what made continuing worthwhile: the volunteers and the food at the aid stations.
