Rivers

Our earliest civilizations settled around rivers, it's the most natural place to be. Rivers provide fresh drinking water, navigation, hydropower, sometimes defence, and habitat for millions of species of wildlife. A river is part of the hydrologic cycle returning water to the oceans from the mountains. Rivers carry millions of tons of sediment from the mountains back to the oceans. We live on the Blue Planet, a planet of rivers and oceans.
