Cyanotypes

These cyanotypes were realized as follows:
I printed on acetates a negative of some original digital photos from my Series: An Essay on Waiting https://pbase.com/christinepnewman/waiting .
I then used the traditional cyanotype method (not digital or Photoshop) to obtain these photos (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyanotype ). Sunlight was the source of ultraviolet light and watercolour paper was used for the print. I subsequently scanned them to post them here.

Beautiful gallery. I really like the cyanotype and the feeling the process adds. I think my favorite is the hand against the curtains. It is almost holding back something - time, the past, the future or whatever we imagine.--Rene

I am thrilled to see you doing this, Christine. While coloring yourself blue does not necessarily extend the meaning of these wonderful images, going through this process, dating to 1842, is putting you in touch with the roots of photography. It can only enhance your understanding, respect and appreciation of the medium. And it adds one more level of understanding to your own knowledge base.

Ah oui... je suis tout à fait d'accord. J'aime ce bleu, il intensifie l'effet émotionnel. Il t'enveloppe d'une certaine distance et rapproche à la fois. Bleu...une couleur que j'affectionne.
