Hidden Treasures: Toronto Brickworks

These pictures were taken on June 25, November 6 and November 20, 2005 at the Toronto Brickworks, a factory closed in 1983 after nearly 100 years of operation. Although the City of Toronto (Evergreen) has plans to revitalize this historic site in the near future, it is currently in a state of disrepair with abandoned old equipment and graffiti. Some sections of the buildings being almost entirely in the dark, it is amazing to see the colours and shapes captured by the camera without flash, but with long exposure times.

Yes, I figured too that rust and some unknoun things could be interesting in colors and composition. Good job, would be better if you post bigger shots, 800x600 fot example.

Just came back from an EXCITING trip through this old brickworks. Christine - this series is worth an exhibition. You`d captured the spirit of the old times, as people worked here to earn their money for life. It`s not the first time for you to get the message "you are very talented!" My father was a bricklayer and I grew up on and around construction sites throughout the south east US. I had not, however, visited a brickwork factory until you brought this one to me. Your images are haunting and beautiful. They are images that deserve to be preserved. Thanks for the trip. lpaf
