This is my grandmother, picture taken at my daughter's 11th birthday party friday evening.
About half an hour after this pic, wanting to go to the bathroom, she took the wrong door and fell down the stairs to the basement.
She broke her neck, had a cardiac arrest and is since then in a coma from which she can't recover due to too severe brain damage.
She's 88 years old.
How life can change in a second.
We're in shock, so are the children, who witnessed how she was reanimated by the medics.
That's why we decided to leave tomorrow for Greece anyway. With mixed feelings, it won't be a real vacation, but I hope it'll do us some good to get out of this house where it happened for a while.
