Let us remember all of them

Notre Dame de Lorette, Pas de Calais

A military cemetery, the largest in France, where 40,058 bodies have been laid to rest.

In 2014, a ring of remembrance was erected,
inscribed with the names of nearly 580,000 soldiers of all backgrounds and nationalities and regardless of status
who died on Nord-Pas-de-Calais soil between 1914 and 1918.

The numbers are staggering, it's difficult to conceive of how many died in the Great War :o(

It is both beautiful and peaceful, and sobering too. Fantastic photo. V

Wonderful composition. Driving through Northern France and seeing these enormous cemeteries is a sobering experience.
