The Memorial, Notre Dame de Lorette

This circular memorial contains the names of 580,000 persons who lost their lives in the Great War.

Their names are simply in alphabetical order regardless of rank or nationality.
Friends and enemies side by side.

Incredibly moving and impossible to do it justice in a photograph.

Such a waste. But a beautiful, touching memorial to all. Love how you've photographed the curving walls. V

A thought provoking image... what a waste of life of those who gave their all regardless of which side
they were on. Superbly composed image Chris. v

I saw WW2 in Thailand & Singapore. All wars at Canberra War Memorial. I have always wanted to see those on French soil, also Belguim and at Gallipoli.I have a dream....

This photo brings me to tears...
