more wildlife - this time 'garden dormice' - eliomys quercinus

A neighbour called us in to help with a nest of garden dormice she had disturbed in a rarely used room.
They are a protected species.
We caught the four babies and left them with the bedding (glass fibre insulation!) and some pine nuts in a corner of the room. The following morning the babies and the pine nuts had gone - hopefully to the great outdoors.

gosh, what a shot. In the UK you need a special licence just to handle them.

How lovely to find so many babies!!.... I've only ever seen one...curled up asleep in the bottom of a birdfeeder!
