A recent trend that has gradually been appearing around the country is post box toppers – knitted hats
placed on top of the traditional British red Post Office (i.e. Royal Mail) pillar boxes.
The craze began during the first lock-down, apparently, and continues...
(For more information, Google "post box toppers".)
Some of these are most ingenious and all are beautifully made, though by whom, nobody knows!
They appear quite mysteriously, with little notes often attached to explain what they are,
and to discourage the less scrupulous from stealing them!
There are a few of these post boxes near where I live which are thus adorned and updated from time to time,
and I have started to photograph these as a tribute to their creators.
