Near Brisighella. The first stronghold was built there in 1310, with major extensions and alterations
in the 14th and 15th centuries. It was conquered by the Venetians in 1503. Under the dominion of the Serenissima,
it was further enlarged and equipped with the imposing circular tower. Reconquered by the papal troops in 1509,
apart from the brief Napoleonic period, it remained under the control of the Church until 1860, the year of its
annexation to the Kingdom of Italy.
