Basilica di Sant'Apollinare in Classe. The imposing brick structure was erected in the early 6th century. Sant Sant'Apollinare in Classe
was consecrated in 549 and dedicated to Saint Apollinaris, first bishop of Ravenna and Classe, whose relics were originally held here,
but were transferred in 856 to the Basilica of Sant’Apollinare Nuovo in Ravenna. The round bell tower was built in the 9th century.
The Basilica is regarded as one of the most impressive examples of Byzantine art in Italy and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
