The Old Bridge or Pont Vieux, is still in use after nearly a millenium. Originally built in stone in 1035, then clad with brick.
It was fortified and reinforced in the 14th century, acquiring a drawbridge and houses built on the piers (subsequently demolished).
Behind the bridge is Albi Cathedral, built in the 13th to 15th centuries, and perhaps still the largest brick building in the world.
