Troyes – capital of the Department of Aube, the centre of the Champagne region of France. Well known for the many 16th century half-timbered houses
that still survive in the old town. The town has existed since Roman times, when is was known as Augustobona Tricassium, which stood at the hub of
numerous highways, primarily the Via Agrippa which led from Rheims to Milan.
