Cologne Cathedral – the High Cathedral of St Peter - Germany’s most visited landmark. Construction began in 1248, but stopped, unfinished, in 1473.
Work restarted in the 19th century and was completed, to the original plan, in 1880. It is the largest Gothic church in Northern Europe and has the
second-tallest spires. The two towers for the huge spires provide the cathedral with the largest church façade in the world.
