Burg Sooneck

Burg Sooneck, named after the nearby Soon Forest, built in the 12th century. Like many of the castles along the Rhine,
it was destroyed in the 17th century by the troops of Louis XIV of France during the Nine Years’ War. It was rebuilt
between 1834-1861 by the Crown Prince of Prussia, Fredrick Wilhelm IV, as a hunting lodge.
