The Monastery of Santa Chiara, or St Clare, is a double monastic complex built in 1313-1340,
and was originally the seat of the Angevin kingdom’s assemblies. It is most well-known for the
cloisters of the Clarisses, which were decorated in 1739-42 by Domenico Antonio Vaccaro with
beautiful majolica tiles in the Rococo style. The cloisters are also decorated with many frescoes.
