Herculaneum – the so-called Suburban District, to the south of the city, and just in front of what used to be the shoreline.
This is the Sacred Area, with temples, one with the pitched roof dedicated to Venus, the second, to the left, dedicated to
the four gods Vulcan, Neptune, Mercury and Minerva.
The four small white plaques on the rear wall are copies of reliefs of the gods, recently rediscovered.
