Also known as May - and this is what is referred to in the old adage

Meaning - don't start digging the ground until this starts to flower, not until June!
(Alternatively, it could mean don't discard your warm winter clothing until this flowers.)
This year, the May hedges are flowering extremely early, along with everything else.
