On our way through France to Italy this summer, we stopped for a few days to visit a friend in Conques, in Aveyron, from where we took time to visit some local towns.
Then, on the way back home, we spent another few days in Picardy, to visit the beautiful Château at Pierrefonds, which we'd admired for some time through the BBC television programme "Merlin", which used the Chateau as the set for Camelot.
Also on our itinerary was Amiens, home to the largest cathedral in France, followed finally by a visit to Arras, to the Military Cemetery of Fauburg d'Amiens, where my paternal grandfather, who was killed in the First World War, is commemorated.
