Cuba 09 / Valle de los Ingenios and Sancti Spiritus
We left the Escambrey Mountains behind us and started the journey to Camaguey. We visited the Manaca Iznaga plantation in the Valle de los Ingenios (the Valley of the Sugar Mills) we where climbed the watchtower overlooking the owner's house and the remains of the slave quarters and rode the steam train out into the valley. We then travelled on to Sancti Spiritus, one of the original seven Spanish settlements founded in 1514, then on to Camaguey.
