These are 2 abandoned domestic geese, one a Roman Tufted goose (white one) and an African goose. Here they are swimming with other wild geese and ducks. A week or so after I took this shot the water began to freeze over and the wild fowl left.
I contacted the local newspaper and we attempted to rescue these geese when it became apparent that they were in danger of attacks from cayotes, foxes, fishers, etc. After an unsuccessful attempt to catch them (complete with a reporter and newspaper photographer) they were captured unharmed by 2 friends of a farmer who wanted to take them home.
They now reside peacefully with other domestic animals, so the story has a very happy ending.
