Michaelmas Cay is a small white sand island and seabird sanctuary in the Great Barrier Reef, Far North Queensland Australia.
It took about 2 hours to cruise to the cay from Cairns on the sailing catamaran, Ocean Spirit. It was a treat to see a large
colony of noddy terns at fairly close range and then snorkel straight off the sand, in such clear water, find beautiful coral
gardens to float above and enjoy the local marine life including brightly coloured fish, giant clams and coral.
Photos were hit and miss with the point and shoot cameras and their underwater housings! But we had fun trying.
