Menindee is about 110km south east of Broken Hill and became the end of the road
north for us due to road closures and flooding - we could not go on further to
explore Mutawintji National Park or Wilcannia. Even parts of nearby Kinchega
National Park were under water.
But it was not a wasted trip to Menindee where we had great views of
Red Tailed Black Cockatoos around town, a relaxing cruise on board River Lady
at Menindee Lakes, experienced a Menindee Lakes sunset and then camped at the
free Burke and Wills campsite for one night before heading back to Broken Hill
for the trip south. Menindee deserves more time - I would love to see it
especially one Spring or Summer, a real haven for wildlife and nature lovers.
