Jew's Ear

I'm hopeless at Fungi ID but this is one I did know, I had no idea however why it had this name so I looked it up.

Auricularia auricula-judae, known as the Jew's Ear, Jelly Ear or by a number of other common names, is a species of edible Auriculariales mushroom found worldwide. Distinguished by its noticeably ear-like shape and brown colouration, it grows upon wood, especially elder. Its specific name is derived from the belief that Judas Iscariot hanged himself from an elder tree; the common name "Judas's Ear" eventually became "Jew's Ear"

Excellent, Kevin...I saw some of these in the wood a couple of years ago, and have been looking out for them, this year. Sadly, with no luck as yet.
:-)

Ewww - all wet and gooey - that'll be the ear-wax I expect!
