We picked up Naja last week at an "adoption event" put on by "Annie's Orphans." Annie had rescued Naja (not her name then) from a high kill shelter in Kentucky, and brought her to Maryland along with about fifty other dogs. . . amazing.
"Naja" is pronounced "Niya," and means little sister in the language of Greenland, where Hans spent a number of years in his youth. Naja had never seen stairs. She was convinced that getting into a car meant you were going to a Bad Place so it was something you didn't want to do. Naja came home with us and discovered toys, soft doggy beds just about everywhere, and joy, and love. We have a new dog here, no longer serious, learning to be brave, and by golly she loves her toys!!!
Today we took her shopping. Take a look . . .
