On our trip to the Netherlands, Germany and Poland we also visited the Memorial Museum Auschwitz.
Back home I wrote this poem:
Footsteps in the snow...
Footsteps in the snow
Faded away by the thaw
Footsteps in the spring mud
Faded away by the summer rain
Footsteps left behind in the blanket of autumn leaves
Faded away by the hail….
Millions were murdered in this place.
Almost without a trace
Laughing voices
The shriek of a girl
The falsetto of a young man
Love is in the air
It is midsummer 2008
What was once a place of pain and anguish
And disgrace
Is now a museum
Visited by millions…..
Love is in the air
Footsteps are fading away slowly.
Hopefully these millions of footsteps bring
A peaceful world nearer
Very emotional poem. The pictures you selected symbolize the opposite of freedom. Which was felt by all the inmates in Auschwitz. I have visited this tragic place this year.. Thanks for sharing v
